Men
The Exemplary Husband
By: Stuart Scott
God ordained marriage between a man and
a woman for companionship, procreation, and so man would have a helper
suitable. However, God says much more in the Bible about husbands loving
their wives than he says about wives submitting to their husbands. He
created marriage to be a picture of the relationship between Christ and
the Church. Christ was willing to sacrifice his life for the Church, and
God expects no less from husbands today. Stuart Scott has written a book
that gives a biblical and practical blueprint for men who want to live
out God's mandate for Christian husbands. 372 pages.

Transforming Grace
By: Jerry Bridges
Funny how the
exceeding riches of God's grace seem to run out the moment we're saved.
From then on, we tend to base our relationship with Him on our
performance rather than on His grace. Of course, God continues to deal
with us on the basis of His grace, whether or not we understand it. It's
just that when we don't, we forgo the abundant freedoms that come from
not having to measure up. pb/208 pages
Trusting God
By: Jerry Bridges
WHY IS IT EASIER
TO OBEY GOD THAN TO TRUST HIM? Because obeying God makes sense to us. In
most cases, His laws appear reasonable and wise, and even when we don't
want to obey them, we usually concede that they are good for us. But the
circumstances we find ourselves in often defy explanation. When
unexpected situations arise that appear unjust, irrational, or even
dreadful, we feel confused and frustrated. And before long we begin to
doubt God's concern for us or His control over our lives. Adversity is
hard to endure, and can even be harder to understand. If God were really
in control, why would He allow the tragic auto accident or crucial job
loss? How could He permit cancer in a loved one or the death of a child?
Grappling with His concern for us we ask, "Why is God allowing this?" or
"What have I done wrong?" In an effort to strengthen his own trust in
God during a time of adversity, Jerry Bridges began a lengthy Bible
study on the topic of God's sovereignty. What he learned changed his
life, and he now shares the fruit of that study with you in Trusting
God. As you begin to explore the scope of God's power over nations,
nature, and the detailed lives of individuals, you'll begin to
acknowledge His loving control. And as you come to know Him better,
you'll find yourself trusting Him more completely---Even when life
hurts. pb/216 pages
How to Handle
Trouble
By: Jay E. Adams
Trouble is something all
people must deal with: the loss of a spouse, a job, one's health, one's
possessions, one's freedom. Adams writes, "While God has not yet
removed trouble from the Christian or the Christian from trouble, he
has, by the Word and his Spirit, given believers all that is necessary
to handle trouble successfully."
Focusing on Philippians
1:12-26, where Paul views his hardship as an opportunity to glorify
Christ, Adams presents clear and biblical directives for discerning
God's hand at work in bringing good out of trouble--some circumstances,
great or small.
